Whites Car Share Scheme - Away Day Travel
There has always been need for transport to and from away games; however mini-buses and coaches are not seen as financially viable. So to combat this, we have come up with the Whites Car Share (WCS) scheme on the back of a suggestion from supporters.
The aim of this is to bring together Whites fans who want to travel to away games (whether looking for a lift or offering a lift), which should increase our away support and is sustainable and environmentally friendly, as well as saves you money.
How does it work?
We will be making use of internet based car sharing sites (www.carsharewiltshire.com (Wiltshire County Council) and www.footballcarshare.com (see link left), both part of the liftshare network).
You must be 18 to sign up to these websites. Parents/guardians of those aged 13 to 17 may wish to sign up on their behalf and find a suitable carshare; those under 13 must not participate. Greg Condiffe the WCS Coordinator will assist those who are unable to access to participate, more details will follow.
The sites, in addition to search facilities to offer or seek a lift there are a variety of useful tools, this includes a trip cost calculator, information and guidance; we would suggest that you read the information regarding car insurance and safety. Participation in this is a personal arrangement.
We have our own group called “Salisbury City FC Supporters” to make it easier to find fellow Whites fans going to the game whether offering or seeking a lift.
Why not extend it to sharing lift to home games too!
How to set up your account?
As stated above you must be 18 years of age to register, although parents/guardians of those aged 13 to 17 may wish to sign up on their behalf.
To get started, you will need to register on one of these sites. Here is a step by step guide to get going:
1. Go to www.footballcarshare.com or www.carsharewiltshire.com and click on ‘login or sign up’, before pressing ‘Sign Up for Free’.
2. On the next page, you will need to fill in some personal details to register. An activation e-mail will follow which will need to be followed up.
3. Once fully registered and logged in you will then need to go to ‘My Settings’ followed by ‘Manage my Groups’.
4. Now search for ‘Salisbury City FC Supporters’ and go to the page the search returns – on this page you’ll be able to see if anyone is making certain journeys.
5. You will now be able to register a journey on ‘My Home’ and this will return results for fellow group members (when registering a journey use the official postcode for the club, e.g. for Chippenham Town it would be: SN14 6LR).
6. When registering your journey you can supply details of costs, etc. – this can be worked out through the ‘Cost Calculator’ tab.
