SUPPORTERS CLUB EVENTS

Season 2010/11

The Supporters Club organised a number of events during season 2010/11, some more successful than others but all were enjoyed by those who attended. These included regular and very popular general knowledge quiz nights as well as a sports quiz. A music gig with Tom Hingley (lead singer of 1990’s group Inspiral Carpets) and Dirty Skankin Love Hornets. We held our first skittles evening, making use of a mobile alley in the Sarum Suite and also also for the first time had a night at the greyhounds in Poole. We held our second Grand National Race Night, which proved as successful as the first raising large amounts of money as well as being hugely fun. We held several fans forums giving members a chance to put their questions to the board and management. And finally we organised an end of season celebration so supporters and players could enjoy and reflex on the season gone which culminated in promotion to the Blue Square South; the evening including presenting awards to the players as voted by the supporters. More details on these are in our newsletters.

We would like to thank all those who supported our events during the season and hope they will continue to for season 2011/12. If you have not been to one of our events we would encourage you to give it a go, they are always enjoyable!

Salisbury City Football Club Supporters Club

Season 2011/12

Salisbury City FC Family Funday - 7th August 2011

SCFC held a funday for the supporters, with activities for both children and adults. The Supporters Club helped organize some of this working closely with the club. A mini tournament was held with Alderbury FC U8s taking on Salisbury City Juniors - it also saw members of the first team get involved including Brian Dutton, Josh Casey and Adam Kelly - a thrill for the young footballers.  Entertainment included a gladiators game, whilst some fans joined the first team on the bouncy castle or tried to beat Mike Neish or Chalky from the penalty spot. The Supporters then took on the first team in a match played on the main pitch. The highlight was a goal for Dom Savage who beat Tommy to claim a piece of Whites folklore. The first team did sneak a few goals but the less said about that the better… it was still very much enjoyed and roll on next year! We would like to thank those who donated prizes for the tombola and came along and helped to make it a successful day! (August 2011 Newsletter)

City Belles Calendar Launch - 15th September 2011

The launch of the City Belle’s was a roaring success, people turned up in their droves to see TV Gardener Charlie Dimmock help the team promote the cause. All the models (Beth Doyle, Suzie Iles, Bev Ellis, Sue Overy, Michaela Menzel and Lyn Robinson) were present and canapés and drinks were served by some recognisable figures.....Darrell had kindly arranged for some players to wait the tables and it was their turn to go topless with cheeky bow ties...! Representatives from the local press, the Stars Appeal and the sponsors who helped get the calendar of the ground were also present. (September 2011 Newsletter)

General Knowledge Quiz - 15th September 2011

Following the launch of the City Belle’s Calendar was a general knowledge quiz which again proved to be both popular and highly successful. 11 teams competed for the bragging rights and the prizes. The questions followed what is now a well established format. Starting with general knowledge, entertainment, sports numbers, more general knowledge, picture round, true or false and finishing with an A-Z of sport. Ray Braid-Smith was again quizmaster, setting the questions and hosting the evening, thanks for this - with jokes thrown in between questions, not thanks for this though! Teams included many Salisbury City FC Supporters together with their friends and families. The club were represented by two team; one which included Karen and Peter, the other with players (now fully clothed). Sandra Ellis is thanked again for providing food in the break to help fuel brains for the final rounds - quiz and food for the bargain prize of £5 for members and £6 for nonmembers. Questions included, in lonely hearts adverts what does GSOH stand for? What does NCIS stand for in the TV programme? Where would you be going to from platform 9 ¾? Do peanuts grow on trees? And starting with P what BBC Wiltshire's now famous commentary from the Play-Off final? There were a wide range of questions and certainly tested knowledge! Going into the final round just half a point separated three teams. The eventual winners Dimwit’s Days Out (which included Karen and Peter) triumphed. Andy from Whites TV team cam 2nd whilst In First Place which include Chris and Suzie from the committee and John

Harper finished 3rd. We would like to thank all those who came along. (September 2011 Newsletter)

Sports Quiz - 2nd November 2011

The normal format of a General Knowledge Quiz was put on hold for our 2nd Sports Quiz  giving our regular quiz master, Ray Braid-Smith the night off the duties of setting questions fell to Suzie Iles and hosting to Dom Savage - and a fine job they did too! The evening was quieter than general knowledge quiz with only around 20 people attending (quality rather than quantity), split across 5 teams - that said those there enjoyed (and the pasta bolognese) with a small profit made. The quiz included rounds about SCFC, football, Olympics, Guess the Year, Numbers and Sport in General as well as a picture round (see right) - and only a few horse racing questions (which proved popular). The quiz was won by Enzo Scifo - a team of postman who have done well in previous quizzes. We would like to thank all those who came along. (November 2011 Newsletter).
